It’s not often that I go searching for country playlists on Spotify. In fact, this was actually the first time. It’s also probably my least listened to genre, but certainly not one I dislike. Well, not these songs anyway.

Ontario based musician Karli June released her EP Where you come from this February featuring a heartfelt melody entitled The list showcasing her smooth vocals filled with true emotion. This reflects the anecdote of her own life, highlighting the choices she had made throughout.

This April Brett Eldredge, a Nashville native, provided his three million monthly listeners on Spotify with three pure country tracks. Songs About You the first of these three tracks is an upbeat tune full of calming acoustics that synchronise perfectly with the heartwarming tone of the song itself.

Rayne Johnson claims to add a touch of soul to his country style songs and that is certainly true when it comes to Nobody Knows. Just the lyric ‘How could I let my angel get away’ is clear representation of this country/soul blend.
