June has passed and we are in the midst of July, however there are still many music festivals to come this summer. Today I gathered a range of upcoming festivals in locations based on the top locations of my followers, alongside a brief description of each one.
Splendour In The Grass – Melbourne, Australia

21 year old Australian Music Festival features a range of artists, from indie to pop, from rap to rock. It originally was set up by booking agent Jessica Ducrou and music manager Paul Piticco. It has attracted music stars such as Kanye West, Lorde and Arctic Monkeys – this year featuring the likes of Tyler, The Creator, The Strokes and Glass Animals.

All Together Now – Ireland, Waterford

This August Bank Holiday Festival offers more than just music, comprising of comedy, debate, theater and much more too. If you are just looking for music, however, you’ll be happy to know that the biggest Irish songstress Sinead O’Connor will be performing, as will Australian superstar Nick Cave (& The Bad Seeds).

Sonic Summer – Osaka, Japan

Summer Sonic is the perfect blend of Western Indie artists like The 1975 and St.Vincent and Japanese artists like Kolokol and LEO. Over the years, since it’s first occurance in 2000, Summer Sonic has become one of the most iconic music festivals not only in Japan, but in Asia too.

Latitude Festival – Suffolk, UK

2006 originated music festival the Latitude Festival are inviting back their first ever headliners Snow Patrol, alongside other well known musicians like Manic Street Preachers and Mark Owen. Let’s also not forget their long list of emerging artists performing this year, some of which you’ll recognise, others which would be a nice surprise.

Lollapalooza – Paris, France

After seeing the success of Chicago’s Lollapalooza festival, Paris decided to start up their own version. It’s now so famous that artists from all over are playing there this summer – ASAP Rocky, Little Simz and Maneskin being just a few.

Pitchfork Music Festival – Chicago, USA

One of the media’s main music magazines put a spin on their name in 2011, introducing a festival featuring artists belonging indie, rock, electronic and hip-hop genres. There’ll always be someone performing whose name you don’t recognise, but instead find intriguing. In fact the only names I know this year are Mitski, Japanese Breakfast, The National, Cate Le Bon and Earl Sweatshirt.

Veld Music Festival – Toronto, Canada

I couldn’t make this list without mentioning an EDM festival, as we all know they hold the most chaotic, atmospheric concerts you’ll ever encounter. Veld Music Festival gathers Electronic musician from all over the globe into one space, this time featuring British chart topper Joel Corry, Swedish sensation Alesso and atmospheric instrumentalist Alan Walker.

FM4 Frequency Festival – St.Polten, Austria

Promoted by the Austrian radio station FM4, FM4 Frequency Music Festival have described their yearly line-up as the ‘alternative side of mainstream’, and that is no doubt true looking at some of the names for 2022. There’s some you recognise, some you don’t, some you love, some you’re intrigued by.

G! Festival – Gøta, Faroe Islands

The venue for this 3-day-festival is possibly one of the most gorgeous venues for a music festival ever, boasting views of mountains and the sea. This year the likes of Telemama, Elinborg and Suchi will be singing beside the picturesque mountains and glistening sea.

Ypsigrock – Castelbuono, Sicily

Yyprsigrock music festival is one of the oldest music festivals on this list, originating in 1997. LIke the G! Festival, it boasts a beautiful venue at the castle of Castelbuono. The international selection of musicians performing this year include Penelope Isles, Pillow Queens and Self Esteem.
