It’s something about the smooth effortless yet so effective approach that makes it so original. The rhythm flows with an addictive charm that you’ll be besotted with.

Headless Times and Thoughtless Castles – Black Snow on Christmas

The versatile effect of the vocals in ‘Headless Times and Thoughtless Castles’ – by electronica and indie-rock project Black Snow on Christmas – is what really struck me as most fascinating here. There’s a balance of warmth and a haunting feel in them, amongst the beguiling instrumental.

I found rising indie artist Effy Marella on Instagram, and was taken by how she immerses her vocals into her recent release ‘bleachers’, and how they act as an encapsulation of the mood displayed. While the song may fit the niche of many other up and coming melodies at the moment, there’s something distinct about it.
